Divine Ministries Inc. is community of believers pastored by Jayaraj Stephen. Pastor Jayaraj Stephen is a man dedicated to The Lord and to people everywhere. He has been given a very special gift of healing and deliverance and wants the world to know that Jesus is there to bring us all into wholeness. God is using this man to bring His love, mercy and healing to the poor, sick, feeble and hurting. Christian or Non-Christian, it makes no difference. Pastor Stephen brings God’s touch to anyone who comes asking for help.
Pastor Stephen’s healing ministry started in his home and quickly grew to become international. He ministers in two Sydney sites (Auburn & Avalon) and one in Wollongong (Balgownie). He has been called to minister in Dubai, India (where he visited three orphanages his ministry supports) and Canada.
He gets calls all through the day and night from people around the world seeking miracles and needing prayer for sickness, terminal disease, financial breakthrough, work, emotional breakthrough, etc. He answers each and every call.
“More than my needs, more than myself - I care for others and that's the compassion God has given me. I will continue that until my last breath.” Pastor J. Stephen.
“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers.” Ephesians 4:11
The First Miracle
Pastor Stephen was born in India into a family of five children. This is a family that is part of three generations of Christians. He was the youngest and his birth itself is a miracle.
Pastor Stephen tells the story, “I was born around 10pm - the whole family was excited about my birth, but I was born as a blue baby. The doctors at that time had no medication for this. My mother's doctor told my parents that I was going to die within two hours and that my dad had to rush out and make arrangements for the funeral. The coffin was made ready, the pastor was called and my mother was crying at the time. The pastor asked what name they wanted to give me, because without a name a child cannot be buried. So I was named Jayaraj Stephen. The doctors were waiting until 12 midnight when the heart was supposed to stop and they would then take the body away.”
“But my mother prayed and said, 'Lord, you have done so many miracles with the Israelites and other people and if you do this miracle one more time I will give my son to you.’ So, with that prayer everyone was waiting for midnight but then the doctor came and he congratulated my mother. I was given no medication, no treatment, I was not even kept in an incubator and I am still living and have reached old age.”
Because he was a sickly child his parents wanted to give him the best life, so they educated him as an engineer. His mother was very strict as she brought him up and she taught him the Scriptures. “If I didn't read my Bible or say my prayers no food would be given to me,” Pastor Stephen explains. “As a child I became the altar boy in my Anglican church, but there was always a vacuum within me. I would go to church, whether sunshine, rain or storm. But I got nothing out of the church. There was a huge vacuum in my heart.”
As a mechanical engineer, Pastor Stephen rose to the highest order in his country and reported to the Transport Minister. His position was Class One Gazetted Officer.
A New Life and Challenges
In 1989, his in-laws had migrated to Sydney and they asked him to come and visit. “I came here on a sponsorship and also because of my profession,” Pastor Stephen says. “I went for the interview with the High Commissioner - he saw my award and he said, 'I am choosing you.'”
“So the whole family migrated to Australia in 1989. Having said this, the fact that I rose to such a high position back home, the Institute of Engineers in Australia recognised my qualification and they decided to give me a corporate membership straight away.”
However, Pastor Stephen couldn't find work for two years. The country was in recession at the time and he couldn't find work of any kind wherever he went. “For two years I struggled so much,” he went on to say. “My children were only small. The eldest was four years and the youngest three years old. I came to the point that I couldn't provide for my family, so the only alternative was to commit suicide. I was going to church in Sydney and I asked the senior minister if he could give me the keys - that I wanted to pray my last prayer before I would die.”
“I believed that there was no point in living and so I went to pray for three days and on the third day, something happened to me. When I was praying I felt the whole church revolving, the Holy Spirit came and I encountered Jesus in person. When I came out, I was a totally different person. " "The very next day the senior pastor called me and said, 'I am appointing you as a pastor.'” He gave me 35 families to look after. I had no training, no real knowledge of the Bible, I had no preaching experience but still, I was pastoring.”
Called to Bible College
At that stage, Pastor Stephen found work as a Project Manager. He was getting good wages, but still there was so much trouble within the family.
“The Lord spoke to me at the time and said, 'You are to go to Bible College.' I put it off because my work was so hard,” he explains. “I used to bring work home, even during the weekend. But the voice of The Lord was so strong that I did some research and went to Moore Theological College.
When I went to enrol, I was $5 short of paying the fee so the idea was coming to me not to go. However, I thought I would still go and tell the receptionist I am earning good wages and that when I receive my next pay, I will give her the last $5. With that I went and asked the receptionist to enrol me now, even though I didn't have the last $5. She looked at me and said, 'Take all your funds back, whenever you get the money just give it to me.'”
The four years at the College was a very difficult and horrendous experience for Pastor Stephen. “I was fighting with my wife, there was no peace in the house,” he says quite honestly. “I was travelling by train - which was taking me to the wrong station for one whole semester. Every day I went through so much pain and suffering with my studies. Ultimately, when I finished and graduated and I came out of that building, God opened my eyes and He taught me the Bible. I knew that was the reason that Satan wanted to take away the blessings that God had kept and preserved for me.”
Gift of Compassion
Meanwhile, Pastor Stephen was ministering on the weekends and he began to realise that God had given him special gifts. People were being healed when he prayed - it was certainly something new to him. When he prayed, something would happen. He continued in his ministry and it developed so much that people started coming to him. This was only by word of mouth and was happening seven days a week.
“In 2000 the Lord spoke to me and said, 'I want you to pastor full-time.' So, I resigned from a very good job,” Pastor Stephen states.“It was giving me so much money to pay the mortgage, but I did resign and became a full-time pastor. The demand with people was so much.”
Pastor Stephen is the voluntary assistant pastor at the Anglican Church in Auburn in Sydney – they do have another paid assistant. “Although I don't have any financial help, I still work full-time as a pastor,” he admits.
Today, Pastor Stephen understands why he went through those trials and trouble - because God has put him in such a position so that he can have compassion for others. “If I hadn't gone through those trials and tribulations myself, I wouldn't be able to cry for other people,” he says. “I can see the suffering of other people. So I have tears when I pray - God is merciful - He heals them.”
“Big churches are not able to give that one-to-one ministry, because they are so busy. People are really crying out for that one-to-one and are looking for deliverance. Many people, who are afflicted by witchcraft, are crying that there is nowhere to go. The trauma and torture they go through, nobody can understand. They are traumatised and it brings sickness and diseases in their body. There is little help available nowadays.”

TESTIMONIES

Stories Of Answered Prayer From Pastor Stephen...

CANCER “One day I was having a healing meeting and one man came and as I laid my hands, I said, 'I see bubbles in your stomach.' He began to weep and cry and I said, 'God is merciful, He is touching you and healing you right now.' He waited until everyone had gone and he said, "You know pastor, what you have seen is true, because I have stomach cancer. The x-rays show exactly those bubbles. It is a very dangerous cancer and I may not survive.” So I told him, 'God has touched you and healed you. You just go through the process and you will understand.' A few days later, he had an x-ray. There were no bubbles, there was nothing; he was totally healed of cancer. He is willing to go anywhere to tell that testimony. He is a medical doctor and he spoke and gave his testimony recently, and the specialists are wondering how this could have happened. That is a miracle of what God can do.”
DELIVERED BY HIM A businesswoman in Dubai would see some kind of green light appearing before her from time to time and she would notice that each time this would happen, her business would go down or she or someone in her family would get ill. When Pastor Stephen prayed for her, he discovered that she had a kind of Cobra spirit upon her for three generations and so he cast it out. The woman later came back and testified that she is doing very well and that her business had picked up.
DOWN SYNDROME “This is a wonderful story. A young couple came to my office but they were hesitant of coming inside and they were both crying. I said, 'Why are you standing outside?’ They said, 'We are Hindus, maybe we are not allowed to come inside.' I said to them, 'The good Lord wants the entire human race to come in.' Then they came in and said, 'We have a sister in India and she gave birth to a baby girl and the baby was born with Down Syndrome. It is a very serious case where the child's nose is twisted and her tongue is always outside her mouth and she has hair like an animal, all over her body. We have never seen such a freak child. We know that no doctors would help - we have come here asking for prayer.' I prayed with them and said, 'I want you to go and ring your sister back home in India and find out how the child is.' They went and rang her and then rang me back and said, 'There is a remarkable change in the child's body. The nose has straightened and the tongue is drawn in and the hair on the body has started to fall out.' They were so excited about this. On the third day, they came back again and said, 'The child is improving so much, we want one more prayer.' So I prayed with them and I said, 'You go back home and ring and find out how the child is.' They rang back to tell me that the child was completely healed. There was no Down Syndrome whatsoever. They went back to India and gathered photographs of the three stages of the child before prayer, the first prayer and after the second prayer. They sent the photos to me.”
WITCHCRAFT DEFEATED Pastor Stephen visited a family in Dubai who told him about their relative in India who had become bed ridden after a horrific motorbike accident which occurred almost a year ago. He prayed for this man in India over the phone. The family in Dubai then informed Pastor Stephen the next day, that their relative actually got out of bed and walked for the very first time in one year. God had miraculously touched him. When Pastor Stephen went to India afterwards, he met this man in person and witnessed him walking towards him. Pastor Stephen later discovered that this man’s family were actually oppressed by witchcraft and as a result, they had many health and financial problems. They wanted to renovate their house but each time a hurdle would come in the way such as the government not authorising, or the builders withdrawing from the job etc. Pastor Stephen prayed for them and prophesied that in 7 days time they will see a miracle from God. Exactly as Pastor Stephen had said, 7 days later the Government had authorised the renovation and the work commenced. Even health problems went away.
THE ONE WHO HEALS An elderly woman in India had knee pain for 50 years. After a prayer with Pastor Stephen, she was instantly healed and freed from her pain. A girl in India was suffering from bruises and blood marks all over her body. The doctors could not cure her. After a prayer with Pastor Stephen, the girl’s bruises and blood marks disappeared.

Orphanages

There are currently three orphanages that Divine Ministries Inc. supports in India.The bible encourages us to give generously to those less fortunate and especially, visit and look after the fatherless (orphans).
“Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.” James 1:27
One hundred percent of the proceeds from donations made by the congregation and visitors of Divine Ministries Inc. are taken directly to the orphans to house, feed, clothe, educate and prepare them for a life in God.
Donations can be made at each of the three ministry locations, pre and post services by placing the monies into the purple box located at the reception table. Also, there is now a separate donation opportunity for the orphanages during services at offering time.
